Your cycling holiday in Japan

Kyushu Onsen to Onsen | Guided Group

Total Distance 138 miles (221km) | Average distance per day 34 miles (55km).

The forested slopes of Kunisaki peninsula of Kyushu create the perfect backdrop for a once in a lifetime experience. Boasting samurai castles, Buddhist temples and rugged volcanic landscapes, you will discover some of the most undisturbed spiritual places in all of Japan.

The cycling begins on Fukuoka and quickly sets out along the beautiful Chikugo River. You will cycle to visit shrines that date back to 708AD as well as exploring the beaches, ports and hidden temples of the forests surrounding Mt. Futago's 28 ravines. This rustic and rural area is known for producing some of the best crops in Japan, including tomatoes, leeks and prized kabosu limes.

Before leaving the peninsula, you will visit the picturesque town of Kitsuki, that is often used today as the backdrop for Japanese movies. The tour will then continue to the historic Samurai district and to Kitsuki Castle, the smallest castle in Japan. Ending the tour in one of Japan's top spa destinations, Beppu, this is the perfect location to finish this adventurous ride. Besides luxuriating in an onsen, you can also see Beppu's unique hot springs that appear in a rainbow of colours; from ruby red waters to steamy blue, this is a truly stunning location to end to tour. And on top of all this, there is a geyser that erupts approximately every 35 minutes that is sure to make a stunning photo opportunity.
