This fantastic cycle tour is a journey across one of Spain’s most diverse regions. Enjoy pedalling through La Valle d’En Bas, surrounded by astonishing sceneries, from soaring mountain to Pyrenean villages, with charming winding streets and quaint, pretty squares. You will also be able to explore the thriving city of Girona, the largest city in northern Catalonia. Enjoy discovering the array of authentic tapas bars, museums and impressive churches, sure to take your breath away.
Arrival at Girona or Barcelona airports.
Girona arrivals will be transferred from the airport to the first hotel by our local representatives. Arrivals at Barcelona airport will take a high-speed train to Flaca, before being collected. Your first night is spent in the hillside town of Ripoll, famous for the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria. Upon arrival you will have a tour orientation with a welcome drink and be fitted with your bikes.
Rippol to Sant Miguel la Pineda | Distance 34 miles (55 km).
The route today follows an old carrilet railway, taking you through a stunning valley to the town of Sant Joan de le Abadesse, the perfect spot for a leisurely lunch. The next stop on route is the town of Olot, which sits in the midst of a protected natural park with a spectacular volcanic landscape. Your ride ends in Sant Miguel de Pineda after another stretch following the old railway line.
Round Trip to La Valle d’En Bas | Distance 25 miles (41 km).
Today you have the chance to explore this volcanic region in a bit more detail. Our suggested circular route takes you through La Valle d’En Bas, surrounded by amazing landscapes, rugged mountain peaks and the constant burble of rivers and waterfalls. You’ll pass through some rustic Pyrenean villages too, with enchanting cobbled streets and sleepy squares.
Sant Miguel la Pineda to Girona | Distance 26 miles (42 km).
On the move again today, you will travel from rustic, rural villages to the buzz and vivacity of Girona. The route follows yet another converted railway line, with clear signposts guiding you in to the city, and takes you through the Garrotxa and Ter valleys. Girona itself is the largest city in northern Catalonia and a treasure trove of tapas bars, museums and gothic churches. A city that simply must be explored.
Girona to Palamos | Distance 30 miles (49 km).
After enjoying the local nightlife, its time to head for the sea today. You’ll pass through a rich variety of farmlands, forests and valleys, with mountain views of both the Gavarres and the snow-capped Pyrenees in the distance. As you approach the crisp blue waters of the Mediterranean, you pass Castell d’Aro, a delightful spot for a refreshing dip, before reaching Palamos.

Today you are free to do as you please. Your local representative will be able to recommend a cycling route for you, depending on your preference. The coastal cycle path to Cap Roig, a magnificent botanical garden, is a favourite of ours. Or perhaps you’re ready for a day on the beach, feasting on the local seafood and sipping an ice-cold glass of sangria.
We say “Adios” before transferring you to Girona or Barcelona Airport.

Originally built as a 10th century pump house, turning the millstone in a nearby monastery.
